According to boxing journalist Dan Rafael, Garcia’s Voluntary Anti-Doping Association test revealed traces of the banned substance Ostarine. Allegedly, Garcia tested positive in two urine samples taken both before and after the fight. Additionally, one sample also showed a positive screening for 19-norandrosterone, although this remains unconfirmed.
Garcia now has a window of 10 days to request the testing of his B-sample, which he must fund independently. In response to the allegations, Garcia took to social media, vehemently denying the claims as “fake news.” He insisted that he has never used steroids and questioned why the reports emerged after his victory.
